IPMG Art Exhibit

On January 12, 2010, a unique art show kicked off its year-long tour throughout the state of Indiana. “What’s important to me! An exhibit of art by Hoosiers with developmental disabilities” reflects the needs, hopes, and goals of Indiana residents with developmental disabilities through dozens of artistic creations.

Sponsored by IPMG, the exhibit enables individuals with developmental disabilities, including those receiving an Autism, Developmental Disabilities, or Support Services Waiver from the State’s Medicaid waiver program, to share the hopes, dreams, and interests they have for their lives within their communities. (Click here to see the exhibit on display at the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis in honor of Disabilities Awareness Month.)

"What's important to me!" at the Indiana Statehouse“What’s important to me!” travelled to various cities across the state, including Evansville, Terre Haute, Indianapolis, South Bend, and Richmond, with a special stop at the Indiana Statehouse March 1 – 31 in honor of Disabilities Awareness Month. Developed to raise awareness about developmental disabilities, the tour facilitates community integration of individuals with autism, cerebral palsy, and other diagnoses, and creates a greater understanding of the person-centered services provided by the State of Indiana and IPMG to individuals with developmental disabilities.

For those supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, “What’s important to me!” paints a picture of how person-centered thinking can be implemented as they work together to provide quality person-centered planning for each individual. “What’s important to me!” provides a tangible reflection of the person-centered services provided to more than 12,700 individuals participating in the State’s waiver program through the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS), a department of Indiana’s Family and Social Services Administration who administers the Medicaid waiver program. Since September 2006, IPMG has been the sole provider of case management services for individuals receiving an Autism, Developmental Disabilities, or Support Services Waiver.

Richmond's Morrisson-Reeves Library hosted an artist reception for local artists involved in IPMG's art exhibit, "What's important to me!", as part of the exhibit's month-long visit to the library. Click here to see images from this June 23, 2010, event.
